What do construction mechanics do?
Construction mechanics manufacture metal structures, e.g. for the production of steel components, protective grilles, panelling and covers, containers, sheet metal pipes and ducts; not in our company, but in other companies, e.g. also metal structures for the production of steel stairs and doors, very large structures such as container and ship parts, lifts, transport and loading systems, aggregates and car bodies.
Construction mechanics plan their work on the basis of design drawings and production documents. They manufacture components and metal structures and bend, saw and cut sheet metal, pipes and profiles, which are then joined and assembled. Construction mechanics are proficient in the various joining techniques (such as welding and soldering), select the appropriate welding equipment and filler materials depending on the welding job and make the precise equipment settings. They also maintain systems, machines and tools and ensure the quality of their work results.
Construction mechanics have a wide range of employment opportunities in various industrial companies and generally have good career prospects.
